Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
Fold in the chocolate chips and chopped pecans.
Spread half of the cookie dough evenly into the prepared baking pan. Drizzle half of the caramel sauce over the dough.
Spoon the remaining cookie dough on top, spreading it gently. Drizzle the rest of the caramel sauce over the top.
Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the edges are golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Allow to cool in the pan for at least 15 minutes before cutting into bars.
