Add the chicken pieces to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Marinate for at least 30 minutes or refrigerate for up to 4 hours.
Arrange the marinated chicken on the lined baking sheet, skin-side up, and brush half of the barbecue sauce over the chicken.
Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
In the last 10 minutes of baking, apply the remaining barbecue sauce to the chicken.
Remove from the oven and let the chicken rest for about 5 minutes before serving.
