Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Allow it to sit for about 5 minutes until bubbly.
- Add flour, salt, and melted butter to the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms, then knead for about 5 minutes.
- Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for 30 minutes.
Shaping and Baking
- After rising, punch down the dough and roll it into a rectangle.
- Cut the dough into strips and shape each strip into a pretzel shape.
- In a large pot, bring water to a boil. Add baking soda and briefly boil each pretzel for 30 seconds.
- Remove pretzels and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Mix sugar and cinnamon together, then sprinkle generously over each pretzel.
- Bake in the oven for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
Serving
- Allow pretzels to cool on a wire rack for 10 minutes before serving.
