Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar for topping
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon for topping

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and ground cinnamon. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and 1/2 cup of sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, starting and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
  7. In a small bowl, mix together the 1/4 cup of sugar and 1 tablespoon of cinnamon for the topping. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the batter.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Allow the bread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
