Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter softened (for filling)
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar for glaze
  • 1-2 tablespoons milk for glaze

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the milk, melted butter, and egg. Mix well.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. On a floured surface, roll out the dough into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
  6. Spread the softened butter for the filling evenly over the dough.
  7. In a small bowl, mix together the cinnamon and brown sugar, then sprinkle this mixture evenly over the buttered dough.
  8. Starting from one long side, carefully roll the dough into a tight log. Pinch the seam to seal.
  9. Cut the log into 8 equal pieces and place them in the prepared pan, cut side up.
  10. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
  11. While the rolls are baking, prepare the glaze by mixing the powdered sugar and milk until smooth.
  12. Once the rolls are done, let them cool for a few minutes before drizzling the glaze over the top.
