Ingredients

  • 2 cups of graham cracker crumbs
  • 1 cup of unsalted butter 2 sticks
  • 1 cup of brown sugar packed
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 cup of chocolate chips semi-sweet or milk chocolate
  • 1/2 cup of powdered sugar for dusting

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9x13-inch baking dish with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal later.
  2. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Once melted, stir in the brown sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and salt. Continue to cook for about 2-3 minutes until the mixture is smooth and bubbly.
  3. Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the graham cracker crumbs until well combined. The mixture should be thick and sticky.
  4. Press half of the graham cracker mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  5. Sprinkle the chocolate chips evenly over the pressed graham cracker layer.
  6. Crumble the remaining graham cracker mixture on top of the chocolate chips, spreading it out evenly.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
  8. Remove from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then, use the parchment paper to lift the bars out of the pan and let them cool completely on a wire rack.
  9. Once cooled, dust the top with powdered sugar before cutting into squares.
