Description

A quick and flavorful Taco Cabbage Skillet recipe that combines ground beef, cabbage, and spices for a delicious meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 (14.5-ounce) can diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 4 cups green cabbage, chopped
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped (optional)
  • Sour cream, for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
  2. Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté for 3-4 minutes until the onion is translucent.
  3. Stir in the chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Cook for an additional minute to toast the spices.
  4. Pour in the diced tomatoes and beef broth, stirring to combine. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
  5. Add the chopped cabbage to the skillet, stirring well to incorporate. Cover and cook for 10-12 minutes, or until the cabbage is tender.
  6. Remove the skillet from heat and sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese on top. Cover for a few minutes until the cheese melts.
  7. Garnish with fresh cilantro if desired and serve with a dollop of sour cream.

Notes

  • For a spicier version, add diced jalapeños or a pinch of cayenne pepper when cooking the beef.
  • Substitute ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option, or use black beans for a vegetarian version.
