Description

Smashed Cheeseburger Tacos are a delicious fusion of crunchy tacos filled with seasoned ground beef, melted cheese, and fresh toppings, creating a flavor explosion in every bite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 8 small corn tortillas
  • 1 cup grated Monterey Jack cheese
  • 1 cup shredded iceberg lettuce
  • 1 medium avocado, diced
  • 1/2 cup sliced jalapeños
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons taco sauce
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a large frying pan, heat a splash of olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon, until it’s browned and crumbly, about 5-7 minutes.
  2. Season the beef with garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Stir well and let it cook for an additional 3 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  3. In a separate skillet, warm a bit of olive oil over medium heat. Place a corn tortilla in the skillet and let it cook for about 30 seconds until it becomes pliable. Flip it over, then add a scoop of the seasoned beef and sprinkle with Monterey Jack cheese. Cook until the cheese is melted and the tortilla is crispy, around 1-2 minutes. Remove and keep warm. Repeat the process with the remaining tortillas and beef.
  4. In a small bowl, combine sour cream and taco sauce to create a creamy topping.
  5. To assemble, layer the crispy tortillas with shredded lettuce, diced avocado, and sliced jalapeños. Drizzle with the sour cream mixture before serving.

Notes

  • For an added crunch, consider topping with crushed tortilla chips or crispy bacon bits.
  • Swap the ground beef for plant-based meat for a vegetarian-friendly option while maintaining the same spices for flavor.
