Description

Smashed Cheeseburger Tacos are a fun and delicious twist on traditional tacos, featuring crispy beef, cheese, and fresh toppings wrapped in a soft tortilla.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef (80/20)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 8 large flour tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 1 cup shredded iceberg lettuce
  • 1 medium avocado, sliced
  • 1/2 cup sliced jalapeños
  • 1/4 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Begin by heating the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the ground beef and break it up with a wooden spoon. Season with garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook until the beef is well-browned, about 6-8 minutes.
  3. Once the beef is cooked through, press it down with the spoon to create a crispy layer, cooking for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  4. While the beef is cooking, warm the large flour tortillas in a separate pan or in the microwave until they are soft and flexible.
  5. To create the wraps, place a generous portion of the crispy beef in the center of each tortilla.
  6. Layer on the Monterey Jack cheese, shredded lettuce, avocado slices, and jalapeños.
  7. Drizzle barbecue sauce over the filling, then carefully fold the sides of the tortilla inwards and roll it up tightly to form a wrap.
  8. For added crispiness, return the wraps to the skillet and cook on each side for 2-3 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

  • Feel free to customize the toppings based on your preferences.
  • These wraps can be served with additional barbecue sauce for dipping.
  • For a spicier kick, add more jalapeños or hot sauce.
