Description

Oven-Roasted BBQ Chicken is irresistibly tender and juicy, coated in a flavorful marinade and topped with barbecue sauce for a delicious finish.


Ingredients

  • 4 pounds chicken pieces (legs, thighs, or breasts)
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce (your favorite brand)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for heat)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil for easy cleanup and place a wire rack on top.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using). Mix well to create a marinade.
  3. Add the chicken pieces to the bowl and toss them in the marinade until they are evenly coated.
  4. Place the marinated chicken pieces skin-side up on the wire rack. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.
  5. After 30 minutes, remove the chicken from the oven and brush a generous amount of barbecue sauce on each piece.
  6. Return the chicken to the oven and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F and the skin is crispy.
  7. Remove the chicken from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes before serving. Drizzle with extra barbecue sauce if desired.

  • For a smoky flavor, try adding a teaspoon of liquid smoke to the marinade.
