Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground chicken
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 1/4 cup chopped onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, combine ground chicken, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, onion, garlic, egg, oregano, basil, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Mix until well combined.
- Using your hands, form the mixture into meatballs, about 1.5 inches in diameter, and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until they are cooked through and golden brown.
- Remove the meatballs from the oven and spoon marinara sauce over each meatball. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese on top.
- Return the meatballs to the oven and bake for an additional 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Serve warm, garnished with extra parsley if desired.
Notes
- For a healthier option, substitute half of the breadcrumbs with finely chopped vegetables like zucchini or bell peppers.
- To make these meatballs gluten-free, use gluten-free breadcrumbs and ensure the marinara sauce is also gluten-free.
