Description

A delicious homemade pizza recipe that guides you through making a perfect pizza from scratch, including the dough and toppings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water (110°F/45°C)
  • 3 1/2 to 4 cups bread flour
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup sliced pepperoni
  • 1/4 cup sliced bell peppers
  • 1/4 cup sliced onions
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. Let it stand until creamy, about 10 minutes.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the flour, olive oil, salt, and the yeast mixture; stir well to combine. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface until smooth, about 8 minutes.
  3. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm area until doubled in volume, about 1 hour.
  4. Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C).
  5. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and roll into a round shape. Transfer to a lightly greased pizza pan or baking sheet.
  6. Spread the tomato sauce over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border. Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, bell peppers, and onions.
  7. Sprinkle oregano and basil over the top.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly, about 12 to 15 minutes.
  9. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • For a crispier crust, pre-bake the dough for 5 minutes before adding toppings.
  • Feel free to customize with your favorite toppings.
  • Use a pizza stone for an even better crust.
