Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 cups French onion soup
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup shredded Gruyère cheese
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh thyme for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper on both sides.
  3. In a large oven-safe skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat.
  4. Add the chicken breasts and sear for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  5. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  6. In the same skillet, pour in the French onion soup and bring to a simmer.
  7. Return the chicken to the skillet, spooning some of the soup over the top.
  8. Sprinkle the mozzarella and Gruyère cheese evenly over the chicken.
  9. Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  10. Garnish with fresh thyme before serving, if desired.
