Description
A delicious and easy-to-make Campfire Apple Crisp cooked in foil packets, perfect for outdoor gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 medium apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Aluminum foil
Instructions
- Prepare the campfire or grill to medium heat.
- In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Mix well to coat the apples evenly.
- In another bowl, mix the rolled oats, flour, melted butter, and salt until crumbly.
- Lay out a large piece of aluminum foil (about 18 inches long) and place half of the apple mixture in the center. Top with half of the oat mixture.
- Fold the foil over the apple and oat mixture to create a sealed packet. Make sure it is tightly sealed to prevent any juices from leaking out.
- Repeat steps 4 and 5 with the remaining apple and oat mixtures to create a second packet.
- Place both packets on the grill or campfire grate and cook for 20-25 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the topping is golden brown.
- Carefully open the packets (watch out for steam) and serve warm.
Notes
- For added flavor, sprinkle some chopped nuts or raisins into the apple mixture before sealing the packets.
- Substitute pears or peaches for the apples for a different fruit crisp experience.
