Description

BBQ Chicken Grilled Cheese Sandwich is a delicious and hearty meal that combines shredded chicken, barbecue sauce, and melted cheese between crispy bread.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups shredded cooked chicken
  • 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
  • 8 slices of your preferred bread
  • 8 slices of sharp cheddar cheese
  • 4 tablespoons softened butter
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the shredded chicken with barbecue sauce, ensuring every piece is well-coated. If desired, fold in the chopped green onions for an extra burst of flavor.
  2. Preheat a large skillet over medium heat. While it warms up, generously spread butter on one side of each bread slice.
  3. Arrange 4 slices of bread in the skillet, buttered side facing down.
  4. On each slice, layer 2 pieces of sharp cheddar cheese.
  5. Evenly distribute the BBQ chicken mixture over the cheese on each sandwich.
  6. Add another 2 slices of cheddar cheese on top of the chicken, then cover with the remaining slices of bread, buttered side facing up.
  7. Cook for approximately 4-5 minutes until the bottom is crispy and golden. Carefully flip the sandwiches and continue cooking for another 4-5 minutes, ensuring the other side is equally golden and the cheese is melted.
  8. Once cooked, remove from the skillet, cut in half, and enjoy while warm.

Notes

  • For an added kick, consider mixing in sliced jalapeños with the BBQ chicken.
  • You can also switch out the cheddar for pepper jack cheese for a spicier twist.
