- 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
- 8 slices of your preferred bread
- 8 slices of sharp cheddar cheese
- 4 tablespoons softened butter
- 1/4 cup chopped green onions (optional)
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine the shredded chicken with barbecue sauce, ensuring every piece is well-coated. If desired, fold in the chopped green onions for an extra burst of flavor.
- Preheat a large skillet over medium heat. While it warms up, generously spread butter on one side of each bread slice.
- Arrange 4 slices of bread in the skillet, buttered side facing down.
- On each slice, layer 2 pieces of sharp cheddar cheese.
- Evenly distribute the BBQ chicken mixture over the cheese on each sandwich.
- Add another 2 slices of cheddar cheese on top of the chicken, then cover with the remaining slices of bread, buttered side facing up.
- Cook for approximately 4-5 minutes until the bottom is crispy and golden. Carefully flip the sandwiches and continue cooking for another 4-5 minutes, ensuring the other side is equally golden and the cheese is melted.
- Once cooked, remove from the skillet, cut in half, and enjoy while warm.
Notes
- For an added kick, consider mixing in sliced jalapeños with the BBQ chicken.
