Description
Delicious and easy-to-make Apple Fritter Waffle Donuts that combine the flavors of apple fritters and waffles.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups peeled and diced apples (about 2 medium apples)
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
- 1–2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, salt, nutmeg, and granulated sugar.
- In another bowl, beat the eggs, then add the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Fold in the diced apples gently.
- Lightly grease the waffle iron with cooking spray or a small amount of oil. Pour enough batter into the waffle iron to cover the surface, close the lid, and cook until golden brown and crispy, about 4-5 minutes.
- Carefully remove the waffle donut and repeat with the remaining batter.
- In a small bowl, mix the powdered sugar with 1 tablespoon of milk, adding more milk as needed to reach your desired glaze consistency.
- Drizzle the glaze over the warm waffle donuts before serving.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, consider adding chopped pecans or walnuts to the batter.
- You can also substitute the apples with other fruits like pears or peaches for a different twist.
- If you prefer a lighter version, use almond milk instead of whole milk.
